So as you can probably imagine, my focus has been on getting though treatments and trying to work etc.

I had to cancel all gigs and the plan for my EP release last year which sucked, but cancer has a way of taking pole position.

What was weird is that I honestly haven't been in the mood or mindset to physically do any music…
But here I am now- 1st of Feb 2024, having done 5 months of chemo, had a big surgery (double mastectomy with immediate diep reconstruction) and am now on oral chemo pills till May (but very few side effects so far).
I'm feeling great! And low and behold- the first thing I want to do is play music and get cracking!

I have an album and a half worth of music that I've written and produced that is just waiting on me to mix and send off for mastering. I've been holding off on this as under chemo, my hearing was altered a bit….

So- In the next few months I'll be releasing an EP and then hopefully by the middle to end of the year- my album #2. Very excited with the direction that the new songs are heading.

What about the band?!

My poor bandmates Jordan and Momo thankfully had other projects that they were involved in, so didn't feel too abandoned by me. Jordan's band, "The Dead Zephyrs' actually won the NZ battle of the bands, so have some exciting things happening this year with that (recording etc). He's also in another band that does ‘Tool’. So he's not going to be in the line up of the ‘Colette Rivers Band', but knowing Jordan, I'm sure he'll come back for a few guest appearances!

Momo is chewing at the bit to get rehearsing again and spread that joy we always seem to find when playing together.

Adding to that is Phil on bass and vocals. By a stroke of luck, Phil has landed right in my lap (metaphorically of course!) as he has just started working with me (teachers). He has quite an awesome musical history, having worked for several years as a session bassist for Abbey Road Studios and has played Glastonbury Festival - not that I'm jealous- much!!!

And Rory on 2nd guitar. Rory lives round the corner with Momo and I didn't realise what a good guitarist he was, right under our noses!

So 2024 is set to be an awesome year- and man, do we appreciate how much joy we get out of coming together and playing music.

After the dry spell- we are going to pour!

Colette

xxx
Colette Riverstag:coletteriversmusic.com,2005:Post/73436552024-02-01T09:54:06+13:002024-03-27T16:40:39+13:00Well Hello Again!
Well golly.
I'm back!

If you follow my facebook page, you will know that in July 2023 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Though we are only in April, it's been busy for me.

I've had a few gigs in the Wairarapa and a few in Wellington which have all been really good. Nowadays, I either play solo, as a duo with Momo Sato on keys and harmonies, or as a trio with the addition of Jordan Tredray on drums.

Jordan has been playing on and off with me for about 4 years and I got him to play some session drums on the ‘Memory Lake’ album. Momo came to the fold about a year ago and we're still having a lot of fun together, so long may this combo continue.

The sound recording from this weekend's gig at Moon in Newtown (very cool indie venue in Wellington, NZ) didn't work, so all I have is a few rough pics- at this stage…. But it was a great gig & we were really happy with the sound and appreciative of the wonderful audience that we had.

In the Studio- I'm actually almost done with my EP! YEEEEEEE!!!
I've decided that I'll release an EP with 5 or so songs on it and then the album later in the year. I'm just doing final fixes and mix tweaks, so hoping that it won't be far off before I get that out to you!

Sometimes life gets in the way- the money job vs the happy job. hmmmm…..

Peace. xx

Colette Riverstag:coletteriversmusic.com,2005:Post/70168402022-07-18T17:21:33+12:002024-03-27T16:40:39+13:00UTR Article
I am so excited about this article.

Please do listen and help a sister out by sharing on your socials. :)

It’s about a girl who defies her obstacles.

Think I need to add the lyrics for you folks as this is a real ‘story-song’.

About the production…

I wrote and recorded this song in my home studio in Masterton, NZ. I use Logic Pro x as my DAW. I recently splurged and bought a Lewitt LCT1040 microphone which is the most I have spent on any of my studio gear- but what a joy!

I use my @takamineguitars acoustic guitar for almost all of my recordings. Bass is a logic preset sound and piano is from my Juno keyboard.

I use a fender strat (USA special edition mahogany) with hungry robot pedals and king of tone by analogman.

Drums are programmed by me using logic presets.

Anyway- I really hope you like it! I think it’s a great song and am really proud of how it turned out!

It was a cold and blustery night, as we unloaded amps and gear into the barn on the outskirts of town.

Momoko and I were to play our fist gig together and I was excited to also be performing a handful of brand-new, never-been heard songs that I've been working on recently.

I've had so many gigs cancelled because of Covid, mandates and sickness that I wasn't sure we'd even make it through the door on the night!

Dave Boone opened, doing some great covers- really raw, cool voice- man and his gat.

Then we played - The new and improved Colette Rivers duo...(all originals of course). What was really cool is that with this new arrangement of just me on guitar and Momo on keys, it sounds different yet again to how I've played the songs in the past. It was a lovely full sound, with M doing sweet and precise harmonies that made me giggle inside with glee.

We performed 'Heaven & Earth' which is the single I have coming out this Friday (8th of July) which is also pretty exciting.

Great audience. A lot of familiar faces, friends, family and strangers of course. There were a few memorably failed attempts at breakdancing. This has got to be my first hometown gig in a very very long time. There aren't a lot of places to play around here, unless you count cafes and bars where people are there to eat and drink - and I've done a few of them!!!
Anyway, it was great.

The 'Sons of Boomers' band is a collective of people (most are my work colleagues!) who get together once or twice a year to blow the roof off of whatever space they can find.
They came on last to rock the pants off of everyone there- a really good mix of rock covers that weren't the painful ones we tend to hear over and over in every kiwi bar.

We had a great time. My hands got very close to freezing up mid song on a couple of occasions, but we got there in the end.

Thanks to the lovely Tonnie Ten-Hove for taking photos!

I was assigned Steve Tofa, a Samoan-New Zealander with a deep voice like molasses, a penchant for writing songs that reflect real-life, and a unique and exciting style.
So, a woman on a mission, I listened to his new album Koko Stax on repeat till I landed on the song 'Underground'. I was really excited by the guitar style in this song, reminding me of Stephen Stills (of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young).

So I hit the studio and outpoured into Logic, eventually coming up with a very Colette Rivers version of Steve's 'Underground'. But the journey doesn't end there. I had to do a video.

A lot of people assume that musicians and particularly, 'frontmen' love attention in all ways. That the ceaseless social media 'content' offerings are done to satisfy a narcissistic nature. But it really can't be further from the truth for me. My passion is entirely music-driven and the 'socials' are simply a demand put on all music/ recording artists in order to survive.
The landscape of recorded music has changed so dramatically over my lifetime. Anyway. I do it, but I cringe with a lot of it.

So, with shots from around my house and in my studio, and the split screen magic of Premier Pro, I made a 'performance video' that looks alright and is at least a vehicle for the music!

So now I can sit back and enjoy the awesome daily releases of awesome people that make up this year's 'Tag Your Folks.'

Here is the 9th song in the weekly songwriting prompt that I'm doing. We were told to write a song the very moment you wake up – "make this be the absolute first thing you do". So the song is about still moments when I'm waking up in the morning, still clinging on to dreams....
I'm a terrible morning person, but it was nice to be productive instead of my usual staring at my coffee cup....
FYI- vox are a bit high in this mix.... remember- this is isn't a final mix +master! :)

HOW MANY IDIOMS CAN YOU FIND??

This is the 8th song in a weekly songwriting promts challenge I'm doing. We have a week to write and perform a song and each week the prompt/ starter is different.

This week we were asked to write a song incorporating an idiom. I have used quite a few!!!

DISCLAIMER- I only get time to work on this over the weekend, so what you hear probably still (in my head at least) still has tweaks to improve upon etc. parts to add/ mix to adjust etc. It is not a mastered, released track. This is RAW!

But I hope you like it!!! xxx

- the 6th that I've written/produced as part of a weekly songwriting prompts challenge. The prompt for this week was to write about somebody 'famous'.

I wrote about someone who's band I adore, and has recently gone through a rough bit of heartache.

A nice way to send love and grace across to them xxx

Hi Friends,
Well it is with a heavy heart that I have decided to pull the plug on our upcoming tour down South.
Planning tours takes a ridiculous amount of time and energy to organise- which I had done..... We were really looking forward to it, but alas- it was not to be-- at least not for now.

My band and I have had a number of factors come into play as a result of the Covid-19 Lockdown and have finally admitted to ourselves that a tour right now is not going to work.

We’ll reschedule again when times are a little more certain.

In the meantime, I’m heading back to the studio to finish my second album and we’ll hit the rehearsals again once we’re allowed to grace each other with our presence again.

Take care out there and keep your spirits high (and I don't just mean in glasses!).

Well, weren't we lucky?!

We got in and did our gig at Moon in Wellington JUST DAYS before the country was put into Level 4 Lockdown.

The gig was a really special one, with Ingrid Saker opening- just a woman and her electric guitar. I was surprised by the obvious blues influence that her guitar style had, but then add her voice and song-writing, and it sounds indie.

We performed a 50 minute set from my album 'Memory Lake' and man, it really felt like it went by so fast, because I was loving every minute of it. The band sounded so tight. Kerrie and Hayden really went to the next level to hone the perfect tones and effects for each song. Jordan, as always, added such energy and kept us 'tight'. He and I have been playing together for about 3 years now (he also plays drums on my album... ), so it's easy.
We had great feedback and a pretty full venue, which is always fantastic- especially when you play well!

I'd been panicking for days leading up to the gig as my throat has been buggered from a flu (no, not Covid- I got tested!), but thankfully, all was right on the night.

Scott Pilgrim followed us, with a wide selection of his original songs, performed by various people. I was amazed how many different styles he could weave into the framework of his creative outpouring.

All & all, a fantastic night to have done before our small world became even smaller.
I'm sitting here in my studio in Level 4 Lockdown, unsure what this Delta strain will do and how things will pan out for the tour we have planned in October down South.

Anyway, take care everyone. Keep enjoying the things that you love if you can- & be kind to each other.

Nga mihi,

Things kicked off in Taupō at the museum, where we played in front of the beautiful marae. Opening for Colette Rivers was the duo, 'False Heights' who performed a selection of their own originals in the folk/pop ilk. Thanks to Ash and April for being so cool; making some new friends a town at a time! :) And thanks SO much to Bryan Tetley who arranged the whole thing, did publicity etc. He is a legend where the Taupō music scene would be pretty non-existent without him.

The next day we drove up to Auckland and performed at 'The Wine Cellar,' which has always been a favourite spot of mine to go and discover cool indie music. So, it was a treat to get to play there myself! Opening for me/us was 'Ila' and her band, who played like pros! Her music is really catchy in the indie-pop style. Had a really nice crowd, and enjoyed it thoroughly. There was a reviewer there which can be read here:

https://www.13thfloor.co.nz/concert-review-colette-rivers-wine-cellar-january-16-2021/?fbclid=IwAR2KiLKSvmq44ijeGB86EP2DSIKDHBZxnV-Adkudy-wAyJCCtqZqgXaLSPg

Then, it was back down to Hamilton to perform at the 'Nivara Lounge.' It was a disappointing turn out here, but I think it is one of those things that we unsigned and somewhat unknown musos have to face sometimes. The opening act was a really special gift. Laurence and Sam Frangos-Rhodes, whom I had met at the Wellington Folk Festival, played a selection of originals and covers. They are such talented musicians and the harmonies- yusss! And they are only 19 and 16 years old!

From this point, the band left me and I carried on the tour up to the Coromandel Penninsula, which holds a really special place for me as I used to live in Thames. It has an amazing an somewhat intangible energy- stunning beaches and neat people. I played at the Kauaeranga Hall. Years ago I had seen 'The Eastern' play there and thought it was a really special place. And it was a joy to perform in! I pulled together 3 opening acts for this gig, starting with my friends' duo, 'Arthur Road', then 'Bielbie' (who came up from Wellington to perform) and then, my friend, Tyla and his bro in duo 'The Chunes'. They were all so, so good!
I played my album in full, using some pedals etc and my stomp-box. I think the sound was quite good.
All-in-all this was a really special night and one that stands out in the memory bank.

Next, I drove over the Coromandel ranges to Kuaotunu and the legendary 'Luke's Kitchen'.
I first discovered Luke's which at the time was a container with awning and outdoor pizza oven right on the Kuaotunu beach. I had played a gig with some local musos. Then, just recently (about a month back) I went on a road-trip with my school buddy, Abby, and I did a solo gig at Luke's. It was SUCH a pleasure to perform there, that I wanted to include it in my album launch tour. The place has changed a bit, but still has that special 'surf-shack' vibe. I played for 2 hours as the sun set, and I looked out at the ocean. DOES IT REALLY GET BETTER THAN THIS?

After this, I drove down to Napier (via Tauranga and Taupo) to perform the penultimate of the tour gigs. The band met me here, and - wow - 'The Paisley Stage' is a really cool venue! comfy couches, bookshelves, records on the ceiling.... and a really good sound guy! We performed well and enjoyed the responsive audience. Opening was a local band, the really quite quirky, dark, deathly americana 'The Spooky Skeletons'. I've loved being in the audience throughout the tour, getting to see such a range of talented groups. Quite a privilege!

Finally, I drove home to the Wairarapa, and got to enjoy a couple of days off to do laundry and say hi to husband and animals before the FINAL gig at Meow in Wellington.
I love this venue- playing in front of a wall of books and the audience on different levels. V. cool.
For this gig, I decided to have 2 opening acts- Bill Hickman, who got up and rocked it solo, playing a set of originals. A great guitarist, singer and performer. After Bill was the 'Grawlixes' whom I met at the Wellington Folk Festival. Their dreamy indie (kinda shoe-gazey) folk was great.

It was fantastic to see some familiar faces at this gig- even my sis, brother-in-law, cousin, and buddy from high school were there. So, they made it a really special night.

That was the tour!

I learnt SO much about the biz and mechanics of organising a tour, and I met some STUNNING musos, who have become friends.

Thanks to those who played with me and everyone who offered their support along the way.
I am no island, so thanks.

After postponing its release because of covid, I wasn’t sure how or when this was going to see the light of day. I’m so proud of this album which I wrote, recorded and produced in my Wairarapa home studio. A labour of passion, love, reflection, repetition, and liberation.

I REALLY hope you enjoy it!

What a ride that turned out to be!

I started in Wellington, playing at the Thistle Inn in Thorndon, Wellington- It was packed, hard to hear, but great! There were a few familiar faces from the Folk festival who came along to support, and in general it went really well. I have to say, the FOOD at the Thistle Inn is very delicious, so that capped the night off even more!

The next day I drove up to Taupo to play at the Storehouse. Before the gig, I stopped into 'Love Music' and picked up this little beauty (right)
It is a stunning reverb pedal hand-made in the States by a company called 'Hungry Robot'.

Played the gig. Small turnout, but some familiar faces which was really nice! I also got the sound really nice, so quite happy with my set-up now! :)

I then took a couple days laying low in Taupo (sort-of). This takes me to the part about doing my album artwork....

I had this idea that I wanted to have me sitting on an old wicker chair in the lake with my face half-covered with a long trailing bit of red material... maybe with a guitar...?

I was staying with my friend, Abby Dance (the photographer), and borrowed her camera to go down to the lake and take some abstract pictures to go in the booklet, on which the lyrics will overlay.

That sorted, Abby and I went down to the lake. I hadn't anticipated how rough the lake can get! Nor how freezing it was that day!!!

The things we do for 'art'.

Anyway, amongst the high waves, getting covered in sand, falling in several times, we got the shots.

After that, and some serious time in Photoshop and Lightroom, Abby and I hit the road for Thames and the Coromandel Penninsula.

I played at Luke's Kitchen at Kuaotunu Beach on Sat the 5th. This place is about as close to paradise as you can get, I reckon.
I've played here before a few years ago and used to drive across from Thames when I lived there- just because it's so amazing.

GREAT gig.
I'm hoping I'll be able to work a way to play there again in January when the album release tour is on.

Here are some pics. xxxx

Well, a few weeks ago, I was asked if I wanted to play in an international online music festival- to which I said "OF COURSE".

The festival is being organised by an amazing woman in San Fransisco named Amelia Ray.

She had managed to curate artists from all over the globe for this 24 hour celebration of music.

I was very pleased that my friend, Say who often plays gigs with me was able to come up and perform with me. My slot was Saturday 23rd of May at 8pm.

Though these online gigs take a bit of getting used to, it went well and I'm really pleased with the sound quality, performance and the feedback from people who were listening.

During these uncertain times, it's great to be able to keep 'gigging'- keeping the juices flowing and inspiration going!

I'll post the full video of our gig online soon!

Well, we're finally allowed to extend our lockdown bubbles to small groups, so I immediately drove to my friend, Sarah's for a jam.

Sarah sometimes accompanies me at my live gigs, so getting together and playing a bit felt reassuringly normal- having not seen each other for 2 months.

Starting to see a glimmer of light at the end of this long tunnel and I sure do hope that I'll be able to book some more gigs and get out there soon!
Colette Riverstag:coletteriversmusic.com,2005:Post/63299722020-05-19T10:55:00+12:002022-03-30T23:21:49+13:00Radio in Minnesota!
Hey people!

Hi there.

I've had a few questions over the years about what some of my lyrics and songs are about.

I'd rather you get what the story is than just say "I want my listeners to find their own interpretation" - because, while I do want you to do that, I also want to give you some clues!

So- here's a video where I talk about the lyrics of Kamikaze Girlfriend and then perform an acoustic version of it.
I hope you enjoy!

If you like to read along, here are the lyrics:

Lyrics:

Kamikaze Girlfriend

Hanging out on my lonesome-

It's a common department

Feeling all of your oceans falling down- and I'm

Falling too.

I am crisscrossed across you

A silent arachnid

And I lost all my conscience- somewhere back there- and I'm

Into you.

KAMIKAZE GIRLFRIEND

SKIPPING THROUGH THE DEEP-END

COLOURS OF THE SOUL

BLOODY-CRAZY TRIPS THE MIND

STUPIFY MY DEMONS TILL THEY'RE SMILING TOO

Wearing swollen red eyelids

Watching walls falling down

And my life just slipped sideways, run aground- and I'm

Lost in blue.

Folded up like a leaf

On a cold winter's morning

In the still, wet pools of my mind- and I've

Fallen through.

KAMIKAZE GIRLFRIEND

SKIPPING THROUGH THE DEEP-END

COLOURS OF THE SOUL

BLOODY-CRAZY TRIPS THE MIND

STUPIFY MY DEMONS TILL THEY'RE SMILING TOO

Hi Friends,

Hope you're all keeping well during the lockdown. While here in NZ we are doing pretty well, I sure do feel for those of you in countries who are still suffering a lot.

Anyway, If you are free tomorrow night (Monday, 27th April) at 8pm (NZ) I'm being played on Lottie Butcher's 'The Arts Show' on Hutt City Radio FM. 106..7FM

It was weird and fun.

A few teething problems getting the show going, but a cool little collection of artists- what was really neat was how different everyone was, but similar in being a bit quirky! I know that makes little sense- in any case, it was fun and good to do a gig during times of such uncertainty.

Today, I have had another 2 gigs (including the one above) cancelled and a handful of others around the North Island put on 'pause' for the foreseeable future.

I'm going to spend this time in the studio doing some new material, and hopefully get you all a few little 'live, but online gigs' in lieu of the cancelled gigs.

Stay safe out there & thanks for all the support.
Colette Riverstag:coletteriversmusic.com,2005:Post/62421292020-03-09T14:35:08+13:002020-03-09T14:35:08+13:00Looking for a double bassist
Well, as a decisive move to expand my band line up, I'm looking for a double bassist.
Well, this was a fun gig! We (myself and lovely band-mate, Say) played for 3 hours at Balter Bar in Carterton.

It was really cool to play a range of songs and see some familiar faces of people who'd heard we were playing and came to support.

Thanks! I've also posted a little clip of us playing one of my songs, 'Pick-Up Truck'.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8j6UMn5E6AE

The venue said that they'd like to make this a more regular occurrence, so looking forward to playing there again. Thanks Balter!

I know that there isn't the listenership that there once was, but it's still a bit of a thrill!

On Wednesday morning I went into Access Radio, Wellington and recorded 'The Songwriters' Session' with Terry Shore.

As well as interviews, Terry played 3 of my recorded songs and got me to play a song (Kamikaze Girlfriend) live. It was cool.

The show will air on Saturday 22nd Feb at 2:30. It runs for half an hour.

The Moon gig
Well this was a fabulous night! It was really cool to see so many people show up and what a cool venue. I'll definitely want to play again at Moon in Newtown. It has that seedy but cool music venue vibe, cool people and good acoustics. Sarah August was awesome as usual; it always just makes it more fun and gives added depth to have her harmonies and added guitar/banjo in the mix.

...I also didn't mind a pint of the Peach Bomb cider after the show (which essentially tastes like fizzy peach juice)...mmmm..... thanks Moon!

We (myself, joined by friend Sarah Urwin) played for about an hour, had a nice audience and despite some feedback with the system set up, we felt pretty good with how we played.

I've been asked to play again on the 14th for the gallery's 2nd birthday which will be good. I'll try to rope in some more people to accompany me.
Colette Riverstag:coletteriversmusic.com,2005:Post/59542012019-11-09T08:57:08+13:002019-12-02T16:36:48+13:00Colette Rivers at Wellyfest
Well, well, Wellyfest, AKA Wellington Folk Festival.

I played 2 slots on the Sunday 27/10/19. What a cool place to play!

I've never played at this festival, but it was such a warm and positive place, I think I'll do it again!

I loved that as well as the organised gigs, lurking around every corner was another muso jam the would spontaneously erupt as people wandered around with instruments in tow. I admit, I was one of these!

Of course, it wouldn't have been as cool if I didn't have my amazing and talented friend, Say with me playing banjo or gat and harmonies. She makes everything fun.

Well if you hadn't already gathered, I've changed my 'stage name' from Feline Rub to Colette Rivers.

It works better for the style of music that I do.

Thanks for all your continued support!

Not only is she is a stellar multi-instrumentalist, her harmonies are adding this much needed element to the live gigs.

She is creative and has good instincts. I'm sure that album #2 will have some contributions from this girl!

I may have found a drummer- but this is proving to be a real tough one here in Masterton. Watch this space.

I have released my 3rd single- Out of the Cage and am so pleased with how it's sounding.

It's got a lot more of a raw folky feeling to it, but then again, I really wanted to add some crunch with my new fender strat, so perhaps it's not so folky after all--Good luck asking a song-writer/producer what style their music is!

Anyway, I hope this gets out there and well circulated!

Back to the studio.....

;-)
Colette Riverstag:coletteriversmusic.com,2005:Post/50978632018-02-25T17:09:56+13:002023-12-11T05:33:11+13:00Longbush Festival Gig

Well it was an absolutely beautiful day out at the Longbush Festival last night.

I was joined onstage by Ila Scott on keys who sang her heart out on BVs.

This gig I experimented with my looper and some new pedals to add some layers which turned out pretty well.

It was such a cool atmosphere, adults and kids running around- fire-dancing, home-made cider and lots and lots of different music.

This is why we do gigs!!! Awesome vibes.

I've been asked to play again next year, so looking forward to it.

Here's to squeezing out those last dregs of summer.
Colette Riverstag:coletteriversmusic.com,2005:Post/50978742018-02-25T12:30:00+13:002022-04-20T12:28:23+12:00Mastering Round 2
I am so pleased with my latest tracks that have been mastered by Mike Gibson at Munki Studios.

In addition to Quiet Places, I have released Fickle Soul which I am loving a lot. I'm so pleased with how the chorus opens up and spreads beautifully.

I have found a real jem in the session drummer Jordan Tredray who did such a great job with both of these songs.

Back to the studio now.....

;-)
Colette Riverstag:coletteriversmusic.com,2005:Post/49481472017-11-25T15:47:19+13:002022-05-31T18:15:59+12:00Gigs at the Harlequin and other news....

Well after 3 nights of sold out gigs at the Harlequin theatre, the ball feels like it is rolling to get ready for some summer touring.

I have recruited the talents of another local musician, Ila Scott to join me onstage for the live stuff. We've really clicked and have a lot of fun onstage.
It was really important for me to find someone whose voice would harmonise well with mine and I'm onto a good thing with this one! She plays keys (my much loved Juno synth) while I'm on guitar or mandolin.

There was a guy there filming the Friday or Saturday night, so hope to get a live video up soon.

Speaking of videos- I have been toying with a few different video ideas for 'Quiet Places,' but so far thoroughly unsatisfied with what I have... I'll get there.

There will be a time when I get a drummer and possibly some other musicians onboard to make up the full sound of my recorded stuff, but for now, this works and it gives me freedom to play more venues and tour without too much cost.

But for now, I'm back into the studio to get my next round of songs to my liking and in to be mastered.

Bring on the summer!

--Colette Rivers

Colette Riverstag:coletteriversmusic.com,2005:Post/48890602017-10-13T09:46:48+13:002019-04-20T15:45:11+12:00Mastering Round One
Went out to Mirimar, Wellington to sit down with the expert ears of Mike Gibson at Munki Studios. I had no idea that it was at Peter Jackson's Post-Production HQ.

Anyway, 'Quiet Places' was pretty good and didn't need any tweaks done by me. It's sounding just how I want it, so very pleased there.

The second track, 'Fickle Soul' has more acoustic elements and now having heard it on different speakers, I want to do a couple more EQ and panning tweaks to expand the sounds a bit more.
Worked on it in my studio yesterday, and it's pretty much there.

The album list has 8 brand new songs, and I have 50+ songs which I've written/produced and have never been released to choose the rest from.

Exciting stuff!

All for now.
Colette Rivers
